Open Source & Open Standards

We believe in building with transparency, collaboration, and the power of community.

That's why we decided to leverage and support open-source tools and open standards to create a robust, secure, and user-centric platform.

Powerful & Safe

Open-source is created by the collective intelligence of thousands of developers and their communities. An approach with multiple advantages:

Enhanced Security: tools that are developed by communities are rigorously scrutinized, leading to faster identification and patching of vulnerabilities. Regularly updating our servers and dependencies to apply every patch.

Reliability & Stability: With continuous integration and development, there are manual and automatic tests that often catch errors before they reach users.

Flexibility: Open standards allow interoperability and allow a vibrant marketplace & extension ecosystem.

Community: Interdisciplinary collaboration to apply lessons from many stakeholders.

Tech stack

We are building Namaku on a foundation of trusted technologies:

Calima Rana EHR (Medplum Implementation): open-source electromechanical health record (EHR) system. A secure and compliant backbone for managing patient data and workflows.

DigitalOcean: Cloud provider, with a friendly team and server monitoring tools.

Markket: Headless content management system, Stripe Connect & atuh integrations.

Twilio SendGrid & Zoom SDK: Communication infrastructure for SMS and email, and secure and high-quality video calls.

PostHog: open-source product analytics tool.

We're not just building a platform; we are contributing to a healthier, more connected future for better wellness.

FHIR and Regulatory Compliance

Open standards extends are critical to healthcare interoperability protocols like (FHIR).

The Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources are an evolution from previous slower systems. The standard allows for exchanging healthcare information electronically, making it easier for different systems and applications to "talk" to each other.

Seamless Data Exchange: secure and standardized exchange of patient data between our platform and other healthcare systems. Allows for better care coordination and service extensions.

Enhanced Interoperability: Importing patient data & processing it in a standard manner to create a holistic view and determinants of health.

Future-Proofing: As a modern and widely adopted standard, its rate of adoption will continue increasing.

Additionally, with open standards we can apply a rigorous approach to regulatory compliance. The healthcare industry is subject to complex and evolving legislation, and industry cybersecurity standards.
